The Foundations of Church of the Annunciation
Church of the Annunciation was founded in the belief that prayer and service to the community is one way we can follow Christ in building the Kingdom.
- We work to reach out to the less fortunate
- Lead by example
- Help everyone regardless of their religious beliefs
- Accept the fact that we, too, will someday require assistance in our time of need
Monsignor Roland Zimmerman
November 17, 1926 - August 26, 2015
Our Monsignor Zimmerman went home August 26th. The Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on September 9th with Archbishop Jose Gomez, Archbishop Emeritus Cardinal Roger Mahony, Bishop David O’Conner, Bishop Joseph Sartoris, Monsignor Aidan Carroll and many other clergy from the Los Angeles diocese.
Monsignor Zimmerman entered the priesthood on May 19, 1951 and served as principal at Bishop Amat High School from 1971-1973. He then came to Annunciation Parish where he ministered until 1997 when he retired. He could always be found walking the grounds praying the rosary or his breviary, stopping in to direct one of the choirs and share stories and fond memories of his many travels through the Holy Land. He also spent much time in the Religious Education Office sharing stories of faith.
Our parish community will offer a memorial Mass for him on Saturday 9/19 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the hall where we may share our memories of Monsignor and his impact on our lives.
We are grateful to have had time with him and will miss his presence greatly.
